Each time we receive a new mail message, we hope it is something we are waiting for, but it is actually junk mail. No matter how many times you report messages as spam, they still keep coming. Mail clients, like Outlook or others, may offer some good countermeasures against spam, but Mail Snoop Pro will perform much better in this regard. It works in a similar fashion as other clients, but it features a wide range of filters and preset actions.

The system requirements are low and you can run the software on Windows 2000 or any higher version, including Vista or Win 7. The software will work with either LAN/Cable/ADSL/DSL or modem connections.

After a speedy installation process, you can run the program right away. It is possible to add one or more mailboxes, from different services, with the aid of a wizard, which will launch automatically when starting the program for the first time. While going through the wizard's steps, you will have to specify the type of the incoming mail server (POP3 or IMAP), your username and password, and others.

The added mailboxes are displayed in a tree menu, in the upper left area of the interface. Received, outgoing, sent, and other types of mail can be accessed on the larger area on the right, just like in any email account. The software will periodically connect to the mail servers and update your mailboxes. While doing this, it will check each message against various spam. Spam will be automatically marked or deleted and if the program finds legitimate mail messages, you will be notified. The time interval between updates can be adjusted in the software's main options panel. Alternatively, you can manually update one or all mailboxes with the aid of the options on the toolbar.

You can already find a large number of preset filters. They are displayed in the same area as your emails, after clicking the Show Filters hyperlink, beneath the tree menu. The filters are placed in different categories, according to what part of the email they will check. They will check the message's sender, subject, header, attachments, country code and more. Each of these categories can be found under separate navigation tabs.

It is also possible to set up new filters by using the New Filter option, in the Filters menu or by clicking a hyperlink, beneath the tree menu. This will bring up a small window where you can type an address, set the software to check its domain or the address itself and select an action, such as destroying the mail, with or without prompting you, send a complain, bounce it or others. The options on this window will be different, according to what filters category you access.

Pros

The software features a clean and easy to understand interface. It lets you customize commands, toolbars, shortcut keys and more. Most of its options work by clicking simple radio buttons or selecting true or false values.

Cons

Novice users may have a bit of trouble understanding what a Pop3 or SMTP server is. Spam messages will never be an issue while using Mail Snoop Pro. Thanks to its straightforward features and clear instructions, the software will check any aspect of a mail message and it will determine if it is legitimate or spam.
